Thanks to a tweet from @milevaluealerts I can share that there is a great deal available right now for flights to Lima, Peru from LAX. Roundtrip flights on Delta are available on select dates in February, March, and April. I am not sure if this is a sale or a mistake fare, but either way it is unlikely to last for long.

How to search for this deal

I recommend using the ITA Matrix or Google Flights to search availability. If you are using the ITA Matrix you can see an entire month of availability and easily see which days are available for $289 roundtrip, an example is provided below. Just input LAX as your departure city, and LIM as your destination and then use then select the calendar of lowest fares option.

You can not actually book the flights direct from the ITA matrix, but once you find dates that work you can use Google Flights to click through to the Delta website where you can book this great deal direct. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like you can go to Delta and book these flights direct, you need to find them on Google Flights or a third party site like Expedia or Kayak and click through to book.

What if you don’t live in Los Angeles?

Just because you may not live in LA doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of this great deal. You can always use award miles to get to LAX to make this connection or search for cheap flights to LA, but obviously if you are already near LAX you are better poised to take advantage of this great deal.

Bottom Line

This is a great fare from LAX to Lima and will not last long. Peru is one of the few countries in South America that I have not yet explored, but I will not be able to take advantage of this offer due to another trip I have planned in April-May. If you have some flexibility and can take advantage of this great fare you can explore a great city and maybe use this as a jumping off point for a trip to Machu Picchu.
