Hyatt offering Elite Status Match

Posted by The Mile Addict | Hyatt, Status Match | 0 comments |

On the heels of the big news about the merger between Marriott and Starwood Hotels, which will create the largest hotel chain in the world, comes news of a Hyatt status match offer. News of the Marriott and Starwood merger has worried many loyal SPG members (and maybe some Marriott loyalists)–and Hyatt appears to be offering travelers the opportunity for an Elite Status Match targeted at winning some of these customers over to the Hyatt brand.

On 19 November the company tweeted the following:

“Looking for a new loyalty program? DM us and let’s talk.”

I sent them a message, and about 12 hours later they replied with the following:

“We are only offering Diamond status to SPG Platinum members. SPG Gold, Hilton, Marriott, and IHG (any level) would match to Platinum membership status. Please email a screenshot of your activity page with a competitor (with 1 eligible stay this year) to goldpassport@hyatt.com. We have a lot of requests and expect a 48 hour response time for requests. We will be happy to match your status accordingly. Thanks for choosing Hyatt, welcome back! ^as”

Hyatt Diamond Status

Hyatt Diamond Status is one of the best statuses to have due to the numerous high-value perks. Normally you need 25 qualifying stays or 50 qualifying nights in a calendar year to qualify for this elite status, but with this “unpublished promotion” you may be able to get this valuable status with just an email.

Diamond status includes free automatic upgrades, lounge access (with free breakfast, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, etc), 2 United Club passes per year, expedited check-in, late check out, and perhaps best of all–4 free upgrades per year to a suite from a regular paid room.

If you are an SPG Platinum, it looks like Hyatt is willing to match you to Diamond status with just an e-mail and a screenshot.

Hyatt Platinum Status

If you are not currently a SPG Platinum member, but you are an elite member of another chain or an SPG Gold, you may qualify for a status match to Hyatt Platinum Status. Although the benefits are not nearly as valuable as Diamond, this is still a nice status to have, especially if you can obtain it with just a quick email. Platinum status is normally reached with 5 eligible stays or 15 eligible nights.

Platinum Status offers preferred rooms (higher floors, larger rooms, etc), free premium internet, expedited check-in, and late check out.

Bottom Line

If you have any kind of elite status at any hotel chain, send an email to goldpassport@hyatt.com with a screenshot of your activity page and showing at least one stay this year–also include your Hyatt Gold Passport number (if you don’t yet have one, sign up first!).
